Everyone talks about conserving energy, hardly anyone takes it seriously. Are you aware of so-called “phantom-power”; you turn your electronic device off but leave it plugged-in, the meter still goes up. What a waste, why not change it?  There are operating systems wasting 90% of their processing power with unneeded overhead. Anything beyond 2 GHz processing power requires a lot of cooling, and cooling requires a lot of energy. Are you an energy wasting hog? Who pays the bill? You, me, Uncle Sam? Actually, future generations are going to pay the bill.

With the launch of our C100 more than a year ago we literally shocked the world that it would be possible to build a desktop consuming only 2 Watts of energy per hour; more than 98% less than a traditional system. The C100, now in it’s third generation offered as C120 is still the most energy efficient system available. Running on a very skinny Linux system, what we call Green Maraschino, the system performs actually pretty well, no noise, no heat, no wear and tear, almost no energy consumption.

Interestingly enough we received thousands of hate mails that we would destroy the PC industry with our inexpensive systems,. Our take, we rather shake up the industry than our planet. Period.

We have big plans for Green Maraschino, based on Cherrypal’s cloud computing architecture eventually we will provide you access to all your data and applications no matter whether you use a laptop, desktop, cell phone, are in a car or in an airplane. Join us for an amazing journey.

  2. Can you go into more detail about the Green Maraschino distribution? What desktop manager does it use? What is the package management system like? I assume it includes shell access and compilers so the knowledgeable can compile their own programs?
